TRUCK AND TRANSPORT MECHANIC – APRIL 19, 2021

The mechanic is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining fleet including commercial truck and transportation equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.

  1. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  2. Identify and requisition material/parts required to complete repairs
    1. Direct operation assistant in the acquisition of required material/parts
    1. Ensure that repairs remain inside budget requirements
    1. Obtain approvals for repairs in excess of $1000.00
  3. Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  4. Perform work in either the shop or field
  5. Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications
  6. Use computer to input all time, material, equipment information
  7. Attend and participate in “Toolbox Talks” and site safety meetings.
  8. Adhere to and practice daily all worksite safety policies and procedures.
  9. Report any required or preventative maintenance to supervisor/shop foreman

Supervisory responsibility

May be asked to assist in the supervision and training of apprentice mechanics

  • Skill in the use of mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists
  • Skill in the use of gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with other mechanics about repair work needed

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Min 3 year plus field experience
  • Able to work independently
  • Has own tools

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to constantly reach above and at-shoulder level
  • Ability to constantly work in a stooping/crouching position

HEAVY DUTY MECHANIC – APRIL 19, 2021

The mechanic is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, adjusting, overhauling and maintaining mobile heavy-duty and transport equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, farming and similar activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These tasks are strictly an outline of essential duties & responsibilities; any other duties may also be assigned when required.

  1. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
